Man arrested in death of dog
A St. Catharines man is facing charges of injuring a dog after an investigation.
Niagara Regional Police were called to a residence in the area of Scott Street and Niagara Street in St. Catharines Wednesday to check the welfare of a dog in an apartment building unit. The police arrived found a dead dog at the scene.
An inspector from the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was called in to help the police with the investigation.
The body of the dog was transported to the University of Guelph for a post mortem.
Jamie Dale Spaxman, 46, of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with injuring an animal contrary to section criminal code.
Spaxman was released from custody with a court date of March 3 at the Robert S K Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
